Players of the Round:
Lucy Rechichi (U16 Girls Team 2) – Lucy was challenged to play a role and executed it as needed. She anchored our defence and was instrumental on the boards. Lucy consistently outran opponents in transition and was able to protect our basket. Placing herself in prime finishing position, she scored off being smart and controlled. Well done on such a clinical and crucial performance, Lucy.
Leyton Rooke (U16 Boys Team 1) – This guy showed a different level of maturity, he was face-guarded from the start and didn’t touch the ball in the first 6 mins, we made some adjustments and he was patient in buying his time on when and where to attack and make a presence. He finished with a huge 37 points and a cool 12 rebounds, I was super impressed and proud of how he handled himself throughout the entirety of this game.
He had moves straight out of a textbook!
Gave his defender a left hook!
Had the other coach raging what a sook!

Loss against East Perth Eagles (6 – 40)
Coaches notes
Forget about the scoreline. The girls did it, they strung together 4 quarters of high-intensity skillful basketball. The Eagles had no answers, simply spectacular. I really cannot criticise this game in any area, we are not worried about final scores at this stage. The last development point is now clear, shooting. We dominated the Eagles all over the court, including shot count. Unfortunately accuracy under the ring was our undoing. The Eagles were huge compared to us, 2 years older and easily a foot taller. So rebounding and second chances were rare, but we have time, we will grow. We have 2 more years in U12, it is so exciting to picture where they could be next year and the following. Well done girls! You should be so proud of the game on Sunday!
Player of the Game
This weeks player of the round goes to Lily Anderson. Lily has shown massive development over the past few months. She has become a key lockdown player defensively, has reduced her soft foul count with a more skillful execution of her screens, closeouts and general contest, and, has improved her dribbling significantly. This was all on show against the Eagles. Her attitude and effort on Sunday was also a standout. But a special shoutout to all of the girls this week, it was a real team effort and I want to recognise you all. Well done.

Coaches Notes
Great game today, girls!
Our offense and defense were outstanding. The defensive pressure at our end of the court was excellent—we made them work hard for every shot and forced multiple attempts to get the bucket. Their height gave them an advantage on the rebounds, but our effort and intensity never dropped.
It’s been amazing to see how much this team has grown. Every week you’re improving, and it’s great to watch your confidence build.
This week we take on our training buddies, and it should be a great game. It will be a good challenge and another opportunity to keep growing as a team.
Keep working hard, keep believing in each other, and let’s keep the momentum going. Proud of you all!
Player of the game
This week’s Player of the Round goes to Ella once again!
Ella played her heart out from start to finish, scoring 8 points. Her confidence dribbling the ball up the court was outstanding—she never slowed down and kept pushing forward all game. She fought hard right until the final buzzer and showed great determination, effort, and teamwork.
Well done, Ella! Keep up the amazing work—we’re so proud of you!

Coaches notes
We had a tough game against Rockingham this week, the boys really stepped up and had such a strong game. It was a very physical game but the boys really stood up to the level of play on court.
We had some really great ball movement going on under the ring, the boys have come a long way since we played them last, Jax was a a weapon on court, JT was on fire with his scoring, Jonathan had a cracking game on defence and Stephen got us some great goals.
I really feel like every single member of the team brought something special to this game, and I’m really proud of how every member of my team played this week.
Player of the game
Our player of the game this week was Ian, he had such a strong game and brought great energy to the courts.
He was amazing in defence and offence, and at no point let the other team get into his head, he was calmed and focused during the entire match even with how rough the game was getting. I’m so proud of Ian and the very impressive game he played.

Coach: Bianca Powell
Won against Perth Redbacks (78 – 41)
Coaches Notes
After last week’s game, where we put together a fantastic first quarter before letting our standards slip for the remainder of the match, the boys were challenged on what is expected of them. While we came away with the win, that sort of performance won’t be enough heading into finals. This team has worked hard to dominate the competition, but talent alone won’t win a premiership. Consistency, discipline and effort across all four quarters will.
This week the boys responded exactly how good teams do. They lifted their intensity, stayed focused and played much closer to the standard I know they’re capable of. It was great to see them take on the challenge and show what this group can produce when everyone is locked in.
There are still improvements to make, but with only three games remaining before finals, the focus is now on maintaining that level of consistency every week. Keep building, keep working, and don’t settle. Great job, boys!

🏀 Player of the Week – Edison 🏀
This week’s Player of the Week goes to Edison! Edison brings confidence, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn every time he steps onto the court. He listens to feedback, takes it on board and then puts it into action during the game. This week he attacked the rebounds, made great basket and showed improved confidence in making the extra pass to keep possession and create opportunities for his teammates. Keep playing strong and trusting yourself—I’m really proud of the improvement you’ve shown every single week. Well deserved, Edison!

Won against Cockburn Cougars (60 – 39)
Coaches Notes
Our girls produced one of our most complete performances of the season with a deserved 60-39 victory over Cockburn. The game was built on relentless defensive pressure, forcing 30 turnovers while recording 22 steals and 31 deflections. We also won the rebounding battle 49-42, including 24 offensive rebounds that created 20 second-chance points. Those extra possessions proved decisive and allowed us to dictate the tempo throughout the afternoon.
While our overall shooting percentages still have room for improvement, we continued to create quality opportunities by attacking the paint and putting pressure on Cockburn’s defence. We also converted five three-pointers at 38.5%, providing valuable spacing when the defence collapsed. Most pleasing was our ability to maintain our defensive intensity for four quarters, limiting Cockburn to just 39 points and controlling the key statistical areas. It was a disciplined, hard-working performance and another important step forward for the group.
Player of the game
Honourable Mention: Annie Zhang earned her first start of the season and embraced one of the toughest defensive roles on the court. While the stats don’t tell the story, Annie protected the nail brilliantly, defended aggressively, made several smart passes and sacrificed her own game for the benefit of the team.
Co-Players of the Game go to Eunice Bakulikura and Mariska Breadsell. Eunice was outstanding with 13 points, 17 rebounds (9 offensive), 6 steals and 2 blocks, controlling the paint all afternoon. Mariska provided an incredible spark off the bench with 14 points, including two three-pointers, bringing energy, confidence and composure that helped swing the game in our favour.

Won against Perth Redbacks (51 – 52)
Coaches notes
The girls started the game off really well with high pressure and intensity getting off to a 20-12 start at the end of the first. The second and third quarter we took the foot of the gas and let redbacks back in. We drove with intent, creating good opportunities from the drive and kicks we just couldn’t make the most of the good shot opportunities we had. Big credit to the girls, despite being down 10 with 4 minutes to go, they never let up, ramping up the pressure forcing big turnovers eventually resulting in a hard fought win. Really proud of the resilience they showed.
Player of the game
Rihanna Jeremiah
It’s hard to look past someone who had 26 points and was a huge contributor in the comeback win. Rihanna throughout the game didn’t stop running, putting pressure on their ball handlers creating numerous turnovers leading to fastbreak opportunities, especially in the 4th. She put a lot of pressure on the rim, consistently finding driving lanes to the basket, drawing fouls and creating good looks for her and her teammates.

Won against Binar Maali (54 – 51)
Coaches notes
Binar were 12-0 until our game Sunday, now they are 12-1!!
The boys really stuck to the game plan, and it was encouraging that they played at a really high level consistently the whole game.
We adjusted our defence to deal with Binar’s aggressive transition offense and we were able slow down their scoring in both transition and the halfcourt.
Offensively we handled the full court pressure, although the fast feet and hands of their guards certainly made life difficult. We moved the ball well and found open players and Binar struggled to defend without fouling putting them in a lot of foul trouble which put them under pressure in the crucial 4th quarter.
Again, a very solid team effort, a good spread of scorers and unselfish transition offense backed up with a good team defence ensured the win for us on Sunday.
Super proud of the boys they are playing some very good basketball at the right time of the season.
Player of the Game
Player of the Game
Another week when player of the game is a difficult decision. Arona Gopolang & Jack Tucker played the point guard role with confidence. Emmanuel Osei-Bonsu & Cooper Pearson both defended well around the hoop and were sold with the rebounds, as was Amir Castro Ogalde who is a beast on the boards and made some crucial defensive plays late in the game.
Eli Weetra, Jack Jones, Ethan Hughes & Brayden Biol defended fantastically and all contributed to moving the ball to the open players, Ethan also dropped a well timed 3point shot.
Player of the Game though goes to Cooper Pearson his contribution and consistency was game winning. Well done Cooper.

Won against Joondalup Wolves (47 – 45)
Coaches notes
Some wins are about execution, and some are just about finding a way to get it done.
This week was definitely the second one, with our offense never quite finding a rhythm, shots not falling and several players in foul trouble.
What kept us in it was defense and rebounding. We held Wolves to a low shooting percentage, while winning the rebound count by 10.
Plenty to clean up, but finding a way to win when our shots aren’t falling is important.
Not a pretty win but we’ll take it!
Player of the Game
Dani Simmons
Dani takes home player of the game this week in a tough, low scoring contest where points were hard to come by.
She finished with 12 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 5 deflections and hit some important shots at key moments. Her defensive efforts down the stretch were crucial, helping us get stops when the game was on the line.
Honourable mentions to Cara with 12 points, 9 rebounds, Abi for a massive 15 rebound game, and Ali for an outstanding defensive job denying one of the best shooters in our division.

Won against Rockingham Flames (60-59)
Coaches notes
The girls came out strong in the first quarter, creating turnovers and transition baskets, jumping out to a 10 point lead. From there on out it was a tighter battle. Both teams shot well from 3 and fought hard. It came down to execution and keeping level heads in the final moments of the game. We were able to hold off a feisty Flames team and work on ability to hold possession to protect a lead.
The girls showed a strong team effort that showed resolve and heart. These are just the kind of challenges we need as we approach the finals.
Player of the Game
Lucy Rechichi. Lucy was challenged to play a role and executed it as needed. She anchored our defence and was instrumental on the boards. Won against Binar Maali (65 – 71)
Coaches notes
Our first and only 8:00am start of the season meant we needed to be switched on well before the opening jump ball. We spoke before the game about using our individual triggers to be mentally ready from the first possession, and the girls responded brilliantly.
The opening quarter was heavily impacted by fouls, and we quickly realised we needed to adjust to the way the game was being officiated. The girls did exactly that, adapting well and recognising that the referees were rewarding defenders who established their body position rather than reaching in with their hands. Their ability to make those in-game adjustments was a real highlight.
As expected, Binar made their run late in the third quarter to regain a five-point lead, but the girls never lost belief in themselves or our system. They stayed composed, continued to trust each other and produced an outstanding final quarter. Outscoring Binar by 11 points in the last term was a fantastic team effort and secured a well-deserved win.
It was another example of this group’s resilience, adaptability and commitment to playing team-first basketball.
Player of the Game
Charlize Gloyn. She continues to make an incredible contribution to our team despite being sidelined with a long-term injury. Week after week she shows up to training and games, demonstrating her commitment to the group. Her energy on the bench is outstanding, but it is her leadership that stands out most.
Charlize contributes to team discussions, offers valuable advice to her teammates and helps keep everyone focused and engaged. Charlize showed that being a great teammate isn’t just about what you do on the court—it’s about the impact you have on those around you. Her selfless, team-first attitude makes a genuine difference and made her a deserving Player of the Game this week.

Won against East Perth Eagles (62 – 44)
Coaches Notes
This was a very good team performance from the team and it was great to get a win on the board.
The team started well and took control early. They worked hard to disrupt the offence and set up some great intercept scoring opportunities. Shooting accuracy has been a focus for the group and we saw some real improvements in this area. Great to see the girls making the right shots and taking the care to make sure that they were putting up their best attempt. Our front court defence allowed East Perth to stay in the hunt at some stages of the game but we were really proud of the way the team sought to address this and tighten up in the second half.
Player of the game
Player of the game was Angelena. She worked really hard both ends of the court, skilfully carrying the ball to set up opportunities, putting pressure on the ball in defence and making some great intercepts. You can always rely on Angelena to give 110%. She took a lot of hits this week and kept on fighting.

Coaches Notes
The group did a great job of getting to the rim and playing with pace in transition, consistently looking to create early scoring opportunities. They also handled the physicality of the game well, matching their opponents’ intensity and remaining composed throughout. It was pleasing to see the team embrace contact, compete hard, and continue attacking with confidence.
Player of the Game
Will put together his best performance of the season and made a major impact at both ends of the floor. Defensively, he brought great energy and intensity, consistently in the right spot applying pressure and making life difficult for his opponent. Offensively, he did an excellent job getting to the right spots in transition, creating easy scoring opportunities, and was aggressive getting downhill to the basket. His effort, decision-making, and his influence on the game at both ends made him a deserving Player of the Round.

This week’s game was a game was a tough matchup for us as rockingham like most other teams have improved in a big way from the first time we faced each other. We struggled with our start this week on offence but got it together in the second half through our relentless defence from all the players.
Player of the game
Eunice Espanola. Eunice has always been one of our strongest and consistent defenders . She has always been given the tough defensive assignments and initiates the traps and presses we run. She has always been a pass first type of player but she is also a strong shooter and in the last few game has started to take a few more shots at a high percentage which is good to see.

Coaches Notes
Another solid team win. The group are really galvanizing in their run to finals and whilst they are being challenged through games, they are demonstrating a level of discipline, resilience and aptitude to manage teams runs and then get the game back on their terms.
We still have levels to our game that we continue to work on that we yet haven’t reached and that’s an exciting prospect for this team when we unearth what their best looks like.
Player of the Game
Honourable mention this week goes to Zac Bainbridge (14points/4 Rebounds/4 assists), fresh of player of the game honours last week, Zac has put together a really consistent 5-6 week block of games and is impacting them in intagible ways that don’t reflect in the boxscore.
Player of the round goes to Lee Edwards (28 points, 7 Rebounds, 2 Assists), Lee set the tone early for us offensively and really got our offence going, and that in turn got his team mates up and about, his defensive work has improved significantly over the season and was a feature again this week.

This round was the absalute best offensive games we have played. The boys managed to score 40 points in one quarter. Making it 64-55 in the first half.
Our defense intensity was very good this game as we had 27 steals against the slammers, being our best defensive intensity this season.
Player of the Game
Rishaan (Naani) Billimoria consistently impacted the game on both ends of the floor and led our team offensively with 19 points on efficient shooting (8/13 FG). He attacked the basket with confidence, finished his opportunities, and contributed defensively with 2 steals while maintaining a strong work rate throughout the game. His intensity during the game didn’t change at all and maintained the right attitude the entire game.

Loss against Lakeside Lightning (86 – 77)
Coaches Notes
A slow start, horrendous would be the perfect word to sum up that start. Some complacency may have played a part in our approach, but it was disappointing to see some of the more reliable players making poor decision and, in my opinion, soft effort and intensity.
But in every negative you learn something, with Tom and Jayden acting as assistant coaches along side Lawrence and myself, those 2 came up with amazing feedback at the half and change the entire game. The line up of James Rajzhan Link Sam and Fei cut the deficit from 15 pts to 4pts before lakeside again blew out to end the qrt up 11 after a poor finish to the qrt.
The start of the 4th I decided I’m going to ride James Rajhan Link Sam and Xavier starting the 4th and Fei if needed and see if these boys can get us back again and finish strong. They almost pulled it off by again storming back and taking a 1pt lead with around 2min left but some ill advise shot and poor defensive possession saw Lakeside managing to finish out the game with a Win which they absolutely deserved.
This loss is a good wake up call for the team and myself, we are good, but we are NOT that good, that goes for everyone individually as a player and myself as a coach. We need to be better! PERIOD!
Player of the Game
Jayden and Tom both out due to injury and rotation, At half time, I needed perspective of players on how I was coaching them. I’m so glad they spoke openly and taught me so much about them, and how much I still need to learn as a coach. Tom stated that me calling out individual instead of a group affect the individual player mindset, where as if I called out the entire group they would galvanise together, that hit me hard. and he’s right. Arjun, Deacon and Omid struggled and I was critical of them early on.
Jayden mature beyond his age spoke to the group and told them what they needed to do, and it was their 2nd half lineup. Full credit to Tom and Jayden on the 2nd half resurgence.
