FORM GUIDE

The Suns Men have been flawless to start the season, sitting atop the NBL1 West ladder with a 4–0 record and continuing to build strong chemistry and depth across the group. The Women broke through for their first win last weekend and now sit at 1–3, gaining confidence at the right time. Lakeside enter the round with mixed results, their Men at 2–4 and Women at 3–2 after splitting their double-header against Cockburn and Perry Lakes. Willetton loom as a major test, mirroring the Suns with the Men also undefeated at 4–0 while their Women sit at 1–3, both teams coming off strong wins over Mandurah.

LAST TIME THEY MET

Women vs Lakeside

The Suns Women faced a tough opening night contest, going down 63–90, but there were strong individual performances that set the tone for the season ahead. Gabriela Bronson was outstanding, finishing just shy of a triple-double with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Ella Averill added 12 points and 5 rebounds, while Emma Strelein contributed across the board.

Men vs Lakeside

The Suns Men opened their season with a thrilling 92–87 win, showcasing balance and composure. Joe Cook-Green and Marley Sam led the scoring with 22 points each, while Terrandus Smith provided energy on both ends. Jordan Simpson was dominant on the glass, controlling the boards with 11 rebounds.’

Women vs Willetton

The Suns faced a tough challenge against the Tigers on ANZAC Day last year, falling 56–94. Olivia Berry led with 24 points, while Karly Murphy recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Yume Knoll impressed with her playmaking and defensive pressure, finishing with 6 assists and 6 steals.

Men vs Willetton

A competitive matchup saw the Suns fall just short, 79–86, despite a strong second-half fightback. Marshall Nelson led with 17 points and 7 rebounds, supported by Terrico White and Travis Fee, while Marley Sam provided a spark off the bench.

ONES TO WATCH

Both Suns teams will take confidence from their undefeated weekend and look to carry that momentum into Round action. The Women will be eager to respond against Lakeside after their Round 1 loss, while continuing to build consistency and confidence across the double-header.

For the Men, the focus is clear — keep the streak alive. Sitting at 4–0, they’ll be tested by both Lakeside and an undefeated Willetton side in what shapes as one of the biggest early-season matchups.

With added significance on Saturday, the ANZAC Day clash against Willetton brings extra intensity, with the ANZAC Medal awarded to the standout performer as voted by coaches and referees — a moment players will be eager to rise to.
