Suns Fall to East Perth in Pink Round Sponsored by CJD Equipment

The Eastern Suns hosted the East Perth Eagles on Saturday night for the club’s annual Pink Round, proudly sponsored by CJD Equipment, in an important evening dedicated to raising awareness and support.

Despite strong effort and moments throughout the night, the Suns were unable to secure victories in either contest, with East Perth claiming both games.

The evening also featured several special moments for the club, including the debut of Trista Hull and the return of Travis Fee following his championship-winning season in Malta. Emma Strelein and Joel Vaiangina were recognised with Pink Round MVP honours for their respective performances and impact on the night.

WOMEN

The Suns women fell 66–85 to East Perth in a competitive contest.

The Suns stayed within reach across the opening half and continued to battle through every quarter, matching East Perth’s physicality and intensity for long periods. While the Eagles were able to gradually extend their advantage as the game progressed, the Suns continued to show resilience and effort on both ends of the floor.

Gabriela Bronson led the Suns offensively with 14 points, adding 5 assists and 4 steals in another strong all-around performance.

Emma Strelein contributed across multiple areas with 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, earning Pink Round MVP honours for her efforts and leadership throughout the evening.

A special moment came with Trista Hull making her NBL1 debut, immediately making an impact with 7 points and 9 rebounds in an encouraging first appearance.

Alyssa Bowen also contributed with 7 points and 5 rebounds as the Suns continued to compete against a strong Eagles lineup.

MEN

The Suns men fell 79–104 to East Perth, with the game remaining competitive through the opening three quarters before the Eagles pulled away late.

The Suns matched East Perth’s intensity early and stayed within striking distance for much of the contest, trailing by just nine points heading into the final quarter. However, a strong final term from the Eagles proved the difference as they created separation late in the game.

Terrandus Smith added 13 points and 5 rebounds, while Marley Sam contributed 13 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in another well-rounded outing.

The night also marked the return of Travis Fee, who rejoined the Suns after recently winning a championship in Malta, adding valuable experience and presence back into the lineup.

While the results didn’t fall the Suns’ way, Pink Round once again proved to be a meaningful and important night for the club and wider community. The evening celebrated resilience, awareness and connection, while also featuring memorable moments including Trista Hull’s debut, the return of Travis Fee, and Pink Round MVP honours for Emma Strelein and Joel Vaiangina. The Suns now regroup and turn their focus toward the next challenge as the season continues.
