The Eastern Suns faced off against the Rockingham Flames on Friday night, walking away with a split result in a night that showcased resilience, firepower, and a dramatic finish.

While the Suns women battled hard against a high-scoring Flames outfit, the men delivered one of the moments of the season, securing a thrilling win on the buzzer.

WOMEN

The Suns women went down 81–112 to Rockingham, facing a Flames side that set the tone early.

Rockingham came out firing, putting up 65 first-half points to build a strong lead. Despite the deficit, the Suns continued to compete throughout the contest, showing resilience against one of the competition’s most potent offensive teams.

Emma Strelein led the Suns with 20 points, adding 3 assists in a strong offensive performance.

Alyssa Bowen contributed 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, while Ella Averill added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in a well-rounded outing.

Gabriela Bronson also chipped in with 12 points and 6 rebounds, as the Suns shared the scoring load.

In one of the most exciting finishes of the season, the Suns men defeated Rockingham 94–91 in a thrilling contest decided on the final play.

After a tightly contested battle throughout, the game came down to the final moments—and it was Terrandus Smith who delivered, knocking down a clutch three-pointer on the buzzer to seal the win.

Smith led from the front with a standout performance, finishing with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals, capping off the night with the game-winning shot.

Marley Sam was again influential with 18 points, 7 assists and 4 steals, controlling the tempo and contributing on both ends of the floor.

Jesse Pollock added 15 points, while Hayden Price dominated the glass with a huge 16-rebound performance to go with his 12 points, providing a strong inside presence.

The win showcased the Suns’ composure under pressure and ability to execute in clutch moments, continuing their strong form this season.
