The Suns Men have been in outstanding form, sitting second on the NBL1 West ladder with a 6–1 record and riding high after a huge win over Rockingham. The Women have secured two wins this season and remain highly competitive in a tightly contested ladder, with multiple teams sitting on similar records. East Perth present a serious challenge, with their Men at 4–2 and coming off an impressive win over Warwick, while their Women sit second on the ladder behind undefeated Cockburn and also claimed a strong victory last weekend.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Women
When the two sides met last season, East Perth came out firing from the opening tip and set the tone early with a dominant 36-point first quarter on their way to a 114–83 win. Despite the result, the Suns showed strong offensive capability, led by Karly Murphy who finished with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant added 23 points. Jemma Gartrell and Aisha Forrest also contributed, but the Eagles maintained control throughout the contest.
Men
The last meeting between the Suns and Eagles produced one of the games of the season, with East Perth narrowly edging out a 101–99 victory. After trailing by 16 at half-time, the Suns mounted a huge third-quarter comeback, outscoring the Eagles 31–16 to bring the game back within a single possession heading into the final period. Despite the late surge, the Suns fell just short in a dramatic finish, with standout performances from Randy Bell (29 points), Marshall Nelson (28 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists), and Lewis Thomas (15 points).
