While it’s not nearly as much fun as watching our Suns take the court, the governance of our Association does matter. It’s how we set a direction for the future, oversee and deliver on our progress on that journey, and ensure that the Association is run in the best interests of your, our members.

At our AGM in June, the members present at the meeting approved revised Rules of Association that modernise the way that we govern ourselves.

These changes included:

  • A change from oversight by an operationally-focused Management Committee to a strategy and governance-focused Board.
  • Mandating (sub-) Committees to govern key areas, such as Domestic, High Performance & Development, Culture & Conduct, and Finance, Risk & Audit.
  • Mandating uplift of key governance policies and frameworks.
  • Formal delegation of most operational responsibilities to the CEO and staff.
  • Plentiful updates to reflect legislative, privacy and modern administration requirements.

In late August, the relevant Government department advised that our new Rules of Association had been accepted and are now in effect.

These can be found on our website here.
