In July we announced that Zac Acott had made the difficult decision to step down from his role as KDBAβs CEO in order to take up a role as CEO of a WA state sporting organisation. Zac has made a phenomenal contribution to our Association in his time with us, strengthening and professionalising many aspects of our operations, while laying important foundations for our future. Zacβs last day as our CEO will be Friday 2 October. If you see him around the courts in his final weeks, please join me in thanking him for his many hours of passion and hard work.
As one era ends, another begins and so it is with great pleasure that I announce that Drew Tennant will join as our new CEO on Monday 5 October.
His appointment followed diligent review of 50+ applicants by a panel of Suns board members, with experienced support from BWA.
Drew comes to us most recently from WA Cricket where he has been in a grassroots development leadership role, following previous experiences leading basketball operations at West Coast Waves (now Perth Lynx), advertising & commercial sales at the Fremantle Dockers, and running of a hospitality business. Those who know Drew best describe him as an outstanding relationship-builder and communicator, and praise for his authentic, people-focused leadership style, and his strong organisational skills.
I know heβs looking forward to getting to know our Suns community in the very near future.
Thanks,
Jarod Avila
Board Chair
